The Schnitzel Haus specializes in traditional German faire, but there are plenty of other non-traditional dishes to choose from such as the pretzel coated chicken. The lively Bavarian style restaurant has been open for over 5 years, and continues to fill the house especially for their Monday night karaoke, a must see. The atmosphere is warm, with candles, antique dressers and mirrors to create a cozy neighborhood eatery and bar.
Schnitzel Haus is the creation of chef and proprietor Alex Richter who has spent more than 40 years in the restaurant business. Richter studied in some of the top culinary schools in both Germany and Switzerland. His extensive training and knowledge of the restaurant industry keeps him on top of the game when it comes to bringing customers coming back for more.
Every day the staff hand-prepares each dinner, which is made to order. The menu consists of traditional Bavarian fare, from a variety of schnitzel (a thin cut of meat) to bratwurst (German style sausage). According to Richter, “the pork medallions topped with gorgonzola cheese and pears, is a crowd favorite.” Of course no meal would be complete without enjoying a freshly-made piece of warm plum tart, or a slice of apple strudel, complete with a scoop of home-made whip cream.
The Schnitzel as both indoor and outdoor seating, diner’s can enjoy their meal and German beer under the stars in the backyard beer garden.
This neighborhood restaurant has something going on almost every night of the week. On Monday’s you can check out karaoke, starting at 8pm. Then on Saturday and Sunday enjoy an outdoor barbeque, German style.
