Description

Since 1994, TAP TAP has been a local favorite known for its festive atmosphere, heavenly Haitian cuisine, friendly service, and award-winning mojitos. Located just minutes from the infamous Ocean Drive, TAP TAP offers an unpretentious taste of the rich Haitian culture. With spectacular wall murals hand-painted by eight Haitian artists, along with a wide range of Haiti’s most infamous dishes, this colorful restaurant transports diners away from the glitz of South Beach without compromising the quality that locals expect.

Managing partners Gary Sanon-Jules and Katharine “Keke” Kean have made it their mission to provide the area with the best Haiti has to offer. With a completely Haitian staff, TAP TAP serves up daily specials like Wonma Boukannen (grilled spiny lobster) and Ke Bef Nan Sos Kreyol (oxtail in Kreyol sauce) in addition to their regular menu that features items such as Griyo (lightly marinated Berkshire pork chunks) and Pwason Gwosel (poached yellowtail snapper in lime sauce). On your way in or out, stop by their Fresco stand for a refreshing taste of Haiti’s twist on the traditional snow cone available in a wide range of organic flavors.

With an incredible variety of organic and free-range food, TAP TAP is environmentally and socially aware. In addition to supporting Haitian musicians with live music by Manno Charlemagne and the TAP TAP Band every Thursday and Saturday, 8:30 p.m. to midnight, TAP TAP also makes it a priority to give back to Haiti through Dr. Paul Farmer’s organization, Partners in Health.

As the only Haitian establishment in the area, locals and tourists alike can immerse themselves in the fun-loving Haitian culture without ever having to leave the beach.
